Thank you for posting….
the Navion is such a beautiful airplane…always liked it..
not sure whether I ever have seen one in Europe when I was an "airport kid"(late 60's and early 70's..), but read about them in the magazines..and saw a couple in the US later...

Gerd, I understand that the old Navion that I used to fly with the CAP (N8222E, now deregistered from FAA) was exported to Germany around 2013. You might want check it out. MM

Michael, what did you think of the Navion? Never been in one, but they have always caught my eye.

MM Michael, thank you, that is interesting.. actually found "your" plane… the folks who got it made a blog about it.. will check what it's registration is now…seems they either flew or restored it still under the N number until 2013.. that blog is from 2010 http://dertraumvomfliegeneinernavion.blogspot.co.at/2010_09_01_archive.htmlcalled "the dream of flying a Navion"..nice best Gerd

Larry, I seem to recall that the Navion was a bit slower than contemporary Bonanzas but, certainly more roomy and comfortable. Built like a tank. The one that we had was an old USAF hand-me down (L-17A?) and was continually in need of maintenance, which likely was the reason the CAP inherited it. Flying wise, I recall it being quite steady and a good instrument platform but, certainly not as light on the controls as a Bo. Pretty good short field performer. Aside from the maintenance problems, it was good airplane and I enjoyed flying it. Fast forward, I have several friends that are as die hard about their Navions as we are about our Bo's, and rightly so. Just a few random, if ancient, recollections. MM

Gerd, thanks for your post. It is good to know that "old triple two Echo" is in good and caring hands. Regards, MM
