Can you start a velocity thread. I am intrigued by them.

Can they be deiced? Is the Canard really greatly effected by rain? How much baggage is there?

It's experimental. Anything's possible. :D AFAIK, nobody has ever done deice on a Velocity though.

I never noticed any affect from rain. And I've been through some heavy rain. I do know that some of the early Long-EZ's used a particular airfoil shape for the canard that was affected by rain.

Baggage area is behind the rear seats. About 20" deep, 40" high and 50" wide. Not as much as a 182 but I never ran into problems with it.

New almost 50 minute video... looks like he still has plans to continue the project. He just needs to wait until the temperatures are in the 50's. When temps are in the 60's and 70's he has trouble with cooling. :bugeye:

So it’ll be as useful as a snow sled in Arkansas?

I’m sorry. I haven’t posted on this thread yet.

I like his casually mentioning that the chute cover fell off during the relocation flight.

No doubt he will secure the new one with more 2" angle.

Silicone sealant. He said so in the video.

The impression I get is that he has a notebook full of things to address and his way of addressing them. This prototype is done as far as practical learning is concerned. I’m not sure why he’s moving it because I’m thinking that all of his intended changes are to be incorporated into some next version.

Everyone who placed a deposit to join the line is still in the same line, regardless of deposit status. Many have gotten them returned and Peter suggested everyone else who is still a deposit holder call Escrow.com to request a refund.

Mine (placed in 2016) was refunded without any issue earlier this year.

I know there are huge issues. Can someone explain to me why he can’t get this engine to not overheat. I know the turbos are screwed up and the cooling lacks, but why does it run well in a car, but not an airplane. Specifically, what would you do besides install a TAT and pressurize it?

I am looking for details. I am just glad he is offering refunds. I do enjoy those who dream big.

The turbos in the automotive installation are not compound, the cooling system is vastly different, the continuous HP (heat generated) is significantly less in the automotive installations.

For more details re: the compound turbos, the RV guy has a lot of good information in his video.

There are a whole lot of problems. He has it setup where the intercooler heat just dumps into the radiator. He had no idea what the dynamic pressures of the inlet snd outlet. He had no duct work once it got inside the cowl . He based sizing his radiator on what Audi used. The problem with that is he changed the turbos to something that was 6-7 pressure ratios. He spent more time doing bandaids on it, he could have probably redesigned the whole setup. I bet they are going with a whole different power plant and don’t care to really fix what he has now.

You could probably make the same bet with the entire airplane.

Who are “they?” Is there some group of angel investors in Utah promising to make something of this if he gets it to them?
