Testing the BRS on the Raptor would tear up the plane. He’s not going to do that. If he did it on the ground it wouldn’t assure that it would support the plane in the air, and if he pulled it in the air it would at best destroy the plane, and at worst not work right and kill him.

It’s installed. The next ones to touch it will be “the company in California”.

There is plenty of angle iron in there!

His ROC seems to be getting worse. Would it all be explainable because of a slight change in density altitude? A few flights ago it took him almost 11 minutes to climb from 4000 feet to 5000 feet. This morning it took 50 minutes to go from 2000 feet up to 3000 feet. I suppose maybe he just doesn’t care what altitude he’s flying at or how fast it gets there, as long as it will fly a figure eight.

Is he really climbing or is that instrumentation drift?

That's a lot of figure eights. :D

Rough math looks like around 20-25 hours in total so far...another 20 or so hours of flying in circles to hit the arbitrary 40 hours for the mystery west coast company.

Does anyone think all of those 8's constitute "flight testing?"

Those aren't figure 8s, they're infinity signs.

Yes, Peter does.

Yes, Peter does.

I don't think he does. In one of the videos, someone asked when he was going to do any flight testing to determine stall speed, VX, VY, etc. His response was that it wasn't necessary since they already know all of those numbers.

And the numbers are all the same value! That will simplify writing the POH.

I considered green font and decided against it.

Peter is doing everything in his power not to find anything else wrong. He’s not going to fly it high so we see that the turbos are jacked up. He doesn’t plan on pushing that envelope either. He wants to get it into someone else’s hands for dollars.

I would say he's doing everything in his power not to find anything. He still doesn't know what the stall speed of the canard is. No clue about Vx or Vy either. In short, he knows nothing beyond that it can struggle into the air up to 6,000' and stay there for a couple hours (I think his record is 2:50 at this point).

We can already see the turbos are jacked up. Low power output along with high heat output were exactly the results that were predicted with his turbo setup. His flights keep getting earlier in the day in order to have low enough density altitude to be able to climb. In another month it may not be able to get out of ground effect after 6am.

Don't forget heat rejection. He needs that cold air to keep oil temps under control. Good thing he's in Georgia... wait...

:P
