If only this plane was lighter, with a proper engine, working turbo, correct design, improved cooling... That's what? 2 more videos, and it will flood the market, bankrupt Cirrus, Airbus, and VW while we're at it.

I mean come on, who is not aching to jump at the opportunity to fly this thing RHS?

More seriously I sort of feel bad for Peter's efforts, until he does another video where he reminds every one that he is neither listening to people with the appropriate knowledge, nor even considering anyone's informed opinion.
Oh and he puts his life in danger inflight.

Scrap it, start over, don't do the same mistakes.

Most of the things that need fixed on The Great White Whale wouldn’t need to be fixed if the guy in charge did more reading and listening, aka research, and less TLAR engineering, aka “I’m fine with that”.
Dropping 1K from the weight of plane that currently only has a partial interior and no paint, without making major changes in other areas, will be a neat trick.

"Chris Close" is finally admitting issues with the bird...

There might be hope after all...

Recognizing issue is the first step
Seeking help may show growing up and a new route to recovery.

I think you misspelled “delusional.”

Even if he sheds 1200 lbs and doubles the power to the prop, he still will be far short of the design goals. Think about the magnitude of that mountain to climb.

We done been polarized.
I would be happy with it at200kts at 20,000’ hauling 800:lbs 800 miles at 20 gallons per hour for 200 grand
I think that is no goals met, but a very marketable plane

A Velocity TXL already beats all of those numbers handily (except price depending on what you are including) and they have a mature kit with well vetted instructions, builder support, and a community of builders.

I don’t think there is any market for a wider but slower version that takes much longer to build and has no track record. If he can’t beat Velocity numbers by a significant margin, the market for the Raptor will evaporate.

The chute is a game changer.

Is it pressurized? Not into nasal tubes.

The Velocity is pressurized to the same cabin differential as the Raptor has currently achieved. 0 psi. Adding pressurization to a plane that already needs to lose half a ton and that has two large doors is going to be....interesting.

If Peter could match Velocity numbers with a wider cabin, pressurization, a chute and a kit that can be built in under 2000 hours, he might find a small market. He is very very far from achieving that.

Also, I think we are talking about a very small market to begin with. I don’t know how many kits velocity sells per year, but judging by how long they have been on the market and how few I see, I bet it’s pretty low. Lancair barely ticked the into the double digits with IV-P sales. Maybe 10-15 per year average? And that plane delivered on performance!

Ah, yes. The pressurization system. Another item on the list entitled “needs re-designed by someone with more than a cursory grasp of physics and aircraft structures”.

Using Delrin with a melting point of 347 °F should be great.

I can’t read or keep up this thread real time. I find it curiously entertaining to read back to front when I do click on it. Kinda like the Seinfeld episode.

From the DuPont site:
Delrin® acetal homopolymer (Polyoxymethylene POM) is the ideal material in parts designed to replace metal. It combines low-friction and high-wear resistance with the high strength and stiffness such applications require. It provides a wide operating temperature range (-40 °C to 120 °C) and good colorability.

Seems like an excellent choice.
