Based on the fact that a good portion of his landings have been "quasi almost nearly an emergency" type things many times, it appears he always wants to be turning towards the airport "just in case".

Logic like that requires rational planning.

I'm not sure how you define "many times", but I don't recall a lot of eventful returns. The obvious one was the engine failure. There was the first flight that ended early as a precaution due to cooling issues. Between those, what do you have?

Peter is leaving Valdosta this morning! I wonder where he’s headed?

If history is any guide, he's heading to a plumbing supply warehouse for another remote mounted cooling apparatus.

Strange that he is flying so low for long cross-county, and experimental bird... In the summer. I would be 10k at least. giving me options to land somewhere

My exact first thought today also. It’s severe clear across the entire Southeast today, no reason he can’t climb higher. And he should.

Especially when your most excellent experimental plane is pressurised.

10K??? :coffee: It takes 2 hours to climb to 6K with an OAT of 65°F. It can’t carry enough fuel to climb to 10K.

Fayette is an odd stop. Nothing / not much of anything there. I don't get why you'd stop there with tons of infrastructure at bessemer or walker County just a few miles away.

I have to admit this is grabbing my attention much more that if he'd continued making too-long videos about every step.

Where is he headed? Surely he doesn't think he's going to cross the Rockies.

Maybe he's going to Airventure. Given his track record, he might have allowed enough time.

What’s wrong with crossing the Rockies at 3,500 feet?
