(Hopefully this isn’t a strike under the BT political policy!) That's actually true. When Daniel Webster made his first dictionary in America, he deliberately did things like removing superfluous letters to streamline and "Americanize" the language.

SWMBO mentioned something about seeing 50 Shades of Grey on the computer. When I told her there were 64 shades of gray and I knew some of the Hex codes she laughed at me. ...couldn't figure out why...

I am sure that there is a perfectly good reason why the spelling of "Grey" is related to that Raptor bird. The only relation I can see is that since he wants so desperately to bring it to California, he should put it on top of a "Grey"hound... or GrayHound.... Keeping this thread on track Now, let's see another video. I miss those videos. I miss the entertainment. Fly raptor, Fly.

If you're sticking to hex code and counting D, E, F, 10 instead of thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen then you could rightfully say there are 40 shades of gray. As I've said before, only about 1% of the population truly understands hex; the other FF do not.

Username Protected wrote: I think you meant 63. Come to think of it, not 63 or 50 but 254 shades of gray. 256 total shades, minus the one that is black and one that is white, leaves 254. Or, counting in base-16 like any respectable person ought to, the shades number 00 through FF (i.e. 000000, 010101, 020202... FDFDFD, FEFEFE, FFFFFF) for 100 total. 100 - 1 -1 = FE. Simple, really.

Also those are only the shades in 8bit RGB coding. There are myriad other ways to code it including simply increasing the RGB bit depth. You can code for an infinite number of shades.
