I didn’t say put it in a dive. I don’t think of a normal descent for landing as “a dive”. He can’t do any real flight testing because of the Raptor’s lack of power/over heating. I just find it hard to believe that he has zero interest in expanding the flight envelope past doing figure eights. He was all about being faster than a Cirrus. A couple flights ago he averaged an eye popping 120 kts for the 80 minute flight. How does he manage to continue this charade when he can’t show the Raptor is even equal in any way to currently available designs? Oh, I forgot. It will all be fixed when it goes into production.

He did see flutter in the taxi tests and fixed it. The Wasabi guys also made him stiffen up the controls. Of course the solution was a bunch of angle iron, but that’s another issue that will just get fixed in production.
As for the TAS at altitude, you can’t just look at IAS/CAS. You also have to look at power required to maintain that 130 knots of IAS in the flight levels. Prop plane power required to maintain the same level of thrust goes up with TAS, and he doesn’t seem to have any excess power available. At least not without cooling issues.

I know the thread is 200+ pages long (and it'll probably hit 300) but in the first several pages there were a few of us discussing performance predictions down low and up in cruise. There are some posts back there with specific numbers, good explanations of the math and aerodynamics in question, and some talk of what numbers the airframe, engine, and propeller will have to make if the finished airplane is to deliver on various promises of speed, range, and so on. So yeah, I know it's a lot of reading but I really am suggesting to start over on page 1 and skim the first several pages from there.

With all this global warming going on- if it gets to 45C or 112 deg F at FL 250, I think you would true out at 250. I’m thinking the atmospheric temps will get there before the raptor makes it to 25K

This seems like the great beginnings of a crash talk thread versus continuation of the raptor thread. The raptor will likely need more angle iron in order to put in a parachute.

That’ll be fixed when it goes to production.

This airplane has needed this for some time, BRS, Bull**** Reporting System.

Patey tested his, I assume that should have been done here also? Not that it’s in any way reasonable to compare the two builders.
