That descent rate doesn't seem unusual looking at his previous flights. With the engine failure, he was going down at 2x that at the end. I would guess he saw something he didn't like short of an engine failure. Just got to dial that in.

It's on LiveATC, right at the hour mark. 1:00 mark: https://archive.liveatc.net/kvld/KVLD-L ... -1400Z.mp3Quote: "I'm not declaring an emergency, but I might be in 30 seconds..." He's on the ground by 3:48, seems uneventful landing, but likely used up another one of his 9 lives there.

What else could cause an emergency "in 30 seconds"?

There’s something wrong with this guy. So, he started a flight with “less oil” than required? At this point he IS going to get himself killed. It’s beyond time to pull the plug on this atrocity of a project. No polar needed to show that it’s a done deal.

No Tony, "you just never learn about speculating" This Peter is the most perfect example I've ever seen of "often wrong but never in doubt"

rv6ejguy has a new video up which highlights the “performance” and “design” of the Great White Whale. It’s almost impossible to remember all the silliness that’s been stated and displayed with this project. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H2vnFSTk6qE

You have to admire him. being able to keep us interested enough to have 238 pages of comments. Physics is a tough master but hope springs eternal in us humans that there is some new development that will defy the well known and studied laws of physics and aerodynamics. I guess we all love a person willing to tilt against windmills and be able to deny all the evidence.
this is another eclipse story without all the money.

He said he’ll then pack it up and move it to California, at which point we’ll likely start seeing more videos. He also made the comment that “Whatever you’re thinking my plan is for production; that’s not it.” Which I found interesting but not surprising. Much of what he’s done hasn’t been what I’d have thought.
Somebody poke me when something changes. Maybe we can staton Rocky out there with a video camera like they do down at Boca Chica and just watch him buzz slowly around. There is no phase I flight test requirement on Experimental R&D certificates. No matter how many hours he flies, he still has to remain within 25nm of VLD until a new set of operating limitations is approved.
