I've seen this twice now. The doors don't fit flush with the fuselage, at least not on the top. You'd think they'd get that right since this is the big new selling point

Perhaps, if equipped, door seals are over inflated?

Either they don't have an upper latch point, or they're mis-adjusted.

They are misaligned. No inflatable door seals. Presumably the only flying example.

Looked at the door and asked questions about their flying prototype at the Sun & Fun last week. There was still some door tweaking to do. Fit and finish on everything else was flawless althought the tail is still backwards.

In flight, there is quite a lot of lift on the upper door so it might fit flush on the ground, but it pulls outward in flight. The door seal can be compliant enough to deal with it.

I agree, there's a reason all pipers have a top latch,

Don

Comanches did not come with a top latch, but it is a popular retrofit. My Comanche did not have a top latch but the door sealed fine.

They are not alone. Ask Jim Klug about the things he's seen on brand new barons.

Come on guys why would you expect the doors to fit. This new Mooney is only $700,000, you can't get fit and finish at that bargain price. No, If you want doors that fit it will cost you at least $1.5mil.

That's what blew me away about the new 182T my CAP unit took delivery of a few years back. The airplane cost half a million dollars and they couldn't get the plastic and rubber trim items installed right.
