And you thought the cobalt was a sketchy prospect..... Has anyone heard of this? http://www.maverickjets.com/the-team/ The computer graphic looks extremely hokey. Take a scaled down B2 and make it white then slap on a single jet engine with a cowl that looks horribly unaerodynamic.

Oh, I though this was that OTHER Maverick Jet I saw at Oshkosh one summer (15 years ago??). They had made a small homebuilt jet using old helicopter engines for propulsion. Not fuel efficient, limited to relatively low altitudes and airspeeds.... but they had the only VLJ that actually flew into Oshkosh that year, several years ahead of Cessna and Eclipse. Their claim was that by limiting the performance, it would actually be affordable and flyable by the type of owner/pilot that wanted a personal jet. (and easier to certify). http://www.maverickjets.com/jets/smartjet.php

Looks like it is a single engine turbojet they claim will be certified to FL450.
I guess no one there reads BT.

For Kevin... the Maverick that flew their jet to Oshkosh 15 years ago had an experimental/ homebuilt approach and I understand they delivered a handful of kits. The plane was crude compared to a Citation Mustang, but it was a real personal jet and it flew some years before the Mustang and Eclipse. http://www.minijets.org/index.php?id=89 I have not heard anything to indicate they have ever delivered a production, certified aircraft to a customer. These days, I think someone who wants a personal jet just for a thrill would look at the SubSonex. If the jet is needed for transportation, I think an older Citation would be the better pick.

This airplane has inspired me. This evening, I am going to have my 15 and 13 year old sons put together an even better jet on the computer. I am pleased to announce that the preliminary performance figures are in:
Max ceiling: 51,000 Cruise: .976 Mach Single Pilot, light sport qualified Range: 3500 nm STOL Capable Plus multiple cupholders!
I am taking orders now. I expect the first delivery in 90 days.
