I was trying to figure this out and asked for a status sheet. It looks like these engines were installed in 1983 and have 2,821 hours on them. The last HSIs were at 1,868, so I think there are ~850 hours until the next ones.

OK. It's a little strange to change engines halfway like that, wonder what the reason was? As far as I know the MU-2 came with the -1's from factory, it wasn't an aftermarket upgrade contrary to my old bird that came with -43BL's originally and the -1's where an STC'd upgrade done in the mid 70's. In that scenario you can expect the engine times to not line up with TT or intervals.

There will never be a better old plane to buy than an MU2. Nothing in GA is constructed the way they are. Overbuilt doesn’t even begin to describe them.

The F model did indeed come with the -1 engines which had an original TBO of 3600 hours. Most of the -1s have been modified to allow the 5400 hour TBO. I believe the subject aircraft still has the 3600 TBO requirement as they were never modified. Of course overhaul at 3600 hours is not mandatory, but cycle limits of certain components may require replacement nonetheless.
