Not sure if this has been shared on this site.... I read this story about Qantas ferrying a replacement engine for one of its planes on a 747. Apparently there is a model of the 747 which allows you to attach an extra engine just for this purpose. Looks cool.

Nope. It is real. At the time the 747 was developed in the 1960s there were no aircraft cargo compartments large enough to fit an engine in. Bolting them on a plane was an easy way to move them as needed.

Air India 182 had an extra engine on them when they were blown out of the sky.
