Ok, i'm on the fence whether to go turbine or piston. With that said, I looked at a '79 421C that has been out of the country for quite a few years in Central America and Germany, came back in 2010, has a bit of a checkered past, but has been reasonably well maintained for the last 3 years. It shows well. I'm scratching my head how a reasonable purchase value can be assigned to it. I need a long distance runner, just not too sure how to look at this candidate. Again, it shows well, has mid-time engines, ok avionics (Garmin 530W, 430W, 800 A/P) just not sure...

Low recent utilization. We ran away after 15 minutes but really liked the heli mechanic. I wouldn't pay more than $175k for it and then plan on another 200 in catch up. One of those motors was super sketchy btw

Turbine. Best thing that happend to me is a condescending email from the short twin cessna sales guru. Befor the email I was seriously thinking 421, afterwards I felt nothing but shame as I found the best long range twin turbine out there...at no greater opex than the C421.

Jerry, you have a right splendid given name, don't let your affinity for it take you down the wrong road!
