If a single engine piston plane were based in England for the first 2 years of its life, would influence your decision to purchase it or not?

Nothing unusual in the logs.

Always N registered.

Do you it makes the plane less sellable if it was ever based outside the US even though one can make an argument that European maintenance is just as good or maybe even better?

For me, all English logs, always N-reg, and now present in the US, I wouldn't make any adjustment either way.

If it wasn't in the US, I'd adjust the price somewhat for the hassle/cost of going to see and bring it back.

Mine started the first twelve yrs of its life in South Africa. Seemed a non issue to me and no problems have appeared because of it.

Logs were good albeit in the proper British English. Actually an interesting read.

Mine spent the first 10 years in England. Seems to have survived.

Everything being equal, I'd look closely at the maintenance and have a close look at the condition of the airframe (it's a damp and rainy climate and hangars can cost a fortune, so lots of planes sit outside in the damp grass and rot away). If the maintenance is good and the airframe is solid and it's been flying regularly, it's fine relative to a US based aircraft.
I bought an n-reg plane when I lived in England, only problem I ever had was some funky white mold which found its way into the heating and ventilation system after it sat for a while in the grass in Jersey, which meant it occasionally blew what looked like dandruff out of the vents...

Mx requirements in England and Canada make the USA certified market look like experimental. I wouldn't be concerned at all about those first 2 years.

I'm trying to imagine that log entry and what it would look like.

St. Crispins Day, Year of our Lord, 1983

Performed following offices for my lord Pilot on one Colonial Flying Contraption with appellation of "Beechcrafte Bonanza" at m'luds Bequest:

Unstuck sticky wicket.
Rotated Tyres anti-clockwise and arse about face.
Put paid to squeak found under bonnet latch.
Found landing gear tensions at sixes and sevens. Had a dekko at the retract rod bolt, found loose. Re-torqued and found now right cracking.

Aircraft is otherwise the dog's bollocks. Cleared for continued service until fortnightly oil change.

Pip pip,

Sir Fotheringay Phipps-Sargent III, Engineer of Airframe and Locomotion, Third Degree, by appointment of HRH, License # 86173.

That is correct for G-reg aircraft. Aircraft outside the US, or in the UK, but continuing to be N-Reg have to comply with FAA annuals, with FAA sign offs, not the local regulations.

Any time I hear "undercarriage" my mind wanders to Jessica Simpson and something bouncing up into her undercarriage!
