You'd think so, but the E-2 with long wing and huge rudders literally had a switch you throw to reduce rudder travel as you speed up.
Yes, it has been forgotten and darn near taken the tail off.

I've got a good friend who flew them until recently down at Ellington. I sent him the video links and the question about rudder authority on the takeoff roll. We'll see what he comes back with to share.

I am based at Ellington and have seen this strange bird coming and going for years now. It has a very distinctive sound and looks only a mother or aviation geek could love.
They did some touch and goes or low approaches the last time I saw it flying.
