http://www.streetinsider.com/Corporate+ ... 75998.htmlFeels like a direct PC-12 competitor, about the same range, speed, power, etc. The improved SFC sounds nice! GE has a lot of technology perfected in the airliner business for squeezing out more HP out of each pound of fuel. The current H80 is not very good at SFC, so this implies quite a lot of change in the engine. I expect pricing to be about $4M/each to make it fit in the market. Mike C.

The airframe is relatively simple, and you can drop in a PT6 for a stand in for now, so the engine will pace this project. It wouldn't surprise me if the project has a backup plan using a PT6 anyway. The engine makers have too much leverage, particularly PWC, so this is a way to get the market shook up a bit. If GE can really improve SFC 20%, that is radical and changes the whole payload/range profile of the plane. The very next thing would be King Air 300/350 re-engine program and they get 20% more range or increased payload. The Textron project doesn't justify a $1B investment by itself, so there is a longer range plan at work here. Mike C.

I wonder if this new GE engine can also take the place of a TPE-331.

Nice, that will putt some pressure on Pratt to get a new generation more efficient PT6 with fadec going.
Sounds like a direct PC12 competitor.
