Very nice.

But also a very calm day on the Hudson.

I can't wait!

However, it seems that Icon is now trying to get people to move into some of the sub 100 positions they have from cancellations. They want you to spend between 70-90k to move up. I am sure some will - but it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I can't put my finger on it...

The first 100 orders. People buy and sell positions in the delivery line like Tulips.

Has Icon delivered any A5s beyond the ceremonial "delivery/donation" at Oshkosh ?

If not, then why ?

Asking existing position holders to poney up more money to get theirs earlier sounds like a desperate money grab.

Still I wish they do succeed.

All Icons on FAA registry show ownership by Icon. I think both of the planes in this video are the prototypes, not the production units.

I believe Icon chose registration number colors to be essentially invisible on purpose.

Not ready, not built, etc.

Same exact things said about Eclipse 10+ years ago.

So the Icon Move Up program is where Icon is trying to sell positions that cancelled to other position holders. The email I received had 3 positions available and they want between 75-90k to move up to sub 100 positions and you get "Founder" edition aircraft.

It sounds like they are trying to be like Tesla in the way they have early models that are considered "Founders" (Tesla just did this with their model X). The main difference is Tesla, for their signature deposit holders (of which I am one -eagerly awaiting my X), when an earlier position holder cancels you move up one, and then they tack on a new one at the end. There is no attempt for the company to monetize the position.

I am okay with people buying and selling positions, but it just feels wrong for the company to be doing that. Technically, when someone cancels, that position should gone and everyone should benefit by moving up.

Maybe I am looking at this wrong....

I agree with all the comments about Icon vis a vi Eclipse, but at least the amount of money tied up in a deposit is substantially less here - so I feel better.

My analysis of the registry is the same as Mike C's.

From ICON's Facebook page today......Q3 2019 deliveries.

ICON Aircraft Current orders have an estimated delivery date of Q3 2019. Move up opportunities are available for earlier delivery. Learn more on our website, and contact us with any questions: http://iconaircraft.com/a5/buy/

They say 1800 positions sold.

Assume they start volume deliveries Q3 2016, that gives them 3 years until they reach a position they would sell today, having delivered all 1800 that are sold.

That's 600 planes per year on average over that time, or 12 per week.

Hard to believe that will be achieved.

With all of the fanfair about the first customer deliveries at Oshkosh I expected to see ICONs rolling off of the assembly line. What is causing THIS delay?

I have a close friend that is holding position #60(ish).......I'm afraid he'll change his mind before it's delivered :cross: .

No A5s are delivered to customers. The Oshkosh event was staged publicity, not real.

Every A5 is still registered to Icon, 4 airframes per the FAA registry (N715BA, N915BA, N740BA, N663BA).

The vibe I get from this company was very "2008 Eclipse500-esque". I would love to replace my SeaRey with one but I got the distinct feeling all my deposit money could vaporize.

I remember seeing a factory picture of Icons getting built right around the Oshkosh fanfare and it looked like a WWII bomber assembly line. Possibly photoshopped? I was expecting the planes to be delivered in large numbers immediately after that.
