When did the 3 seat bench in the rear become an option?

With the G5. Maybe around 2013. At least that is the oldest G5 on Controller

That's what I was thinking. WAY!!! out of my price range.

I guess the only safe way to haul my family of 5 is in the baron.

Dude.. That G5 upgrade increased the max gross weight as well..

That free casting nose wheel makes me feel like its one of those commercial lawn mowers.. Fly the Baron.. It rattles your balls, and burns a lot of 100LL.. Which is cool!!!

The only thing I've been in recently that is cooler.. The Duke.. Thanks Conrad..

Peter

The bench seat change came with the change to FIKI as the TKS tanks were moved from the bulkheads to the wings. It is really not a 5 passenger airplane except for pygmies and children. However, the rear seat is very comfortable for two adults with plenty of shoulder and legroom.

My airplane will be exactly 2 years old on Friday and has 425 hours on it (no where near what you fly Matt!). It is an absolutely incredible airplane and a real joy to fly.

Peter has a point. The castering nose wheel allows parking in tight spaces and great maneuverability on crowded ramps just like my zero turn mower.

I'm not sure about that Matt! If you take the extra fuel burn times the 600 hours a year you fly you could afford a lot of things! :D

Trust me I've done the math. Even at 600 hrs a year I'm not sure it would work. I'm a measly 300 hr a year pilot though.

If I could pay cash for a G5 well that would make a difference. But I can't even pay cash for my old Baron. Still have a loan on it.

But I can pay for 300 hrs a year of Baron fuel!

TKS tanks were moved to the wing on the G3. G3 also had fiki versions, with a tank in each wing instead of just one. The G5 fuselage is the same width I believe, the extra room for the bench seat coming from slimmer side panels. They also went to an oleo nose strut vs. rubber pucks.

2012 but it's for three small kids only. I expect they would fight !

If you need 5 real seats you can fill: Cessna 210, 206, maybe a TN A36 w/4000lbs MGTOW.

To make 5 seats work every time in a single, you need to look at airplanes with >=3,800lbs MGTOW. Ideally 4,000lbs MGTOW like Cessna C/P/T210N or heavily modded 36 Bonanza... or a slowpoke Cherokee 6.

Rear two seats in 210 are not fully "real" from a space stand point.

Yup that's what I thought. Nothing close enough in price range to give up the redundancy of the Baron.

12 gph in a twin. That's crazy even if it is at 60% power.

Looks like it could actually be a practical cruiser.

Wingspan just over a foot and a half greater than a Baron. Doable but tight in my hangar for the Baron. Meaning, stepping up to a size larger hangar at my airport would be a very large lease fee increase. Which isn't to say a person shouldn't buy one, just have to factor in a larger overhead budget.
