Have you applied for overflight/landing permits from Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia or aircraft resident papers in Paraguay? I have spoken to the aviation authorities in these countries about this. Did not dream any of it up What is the STC number for your two crew citation that allows you to fly around the world single pilot?

SPE is only valid in the United States. You are required to have two pilots for operations in Mexico. I believe second pilot also has to have a SIC rating.

My Mustang has never been to Mexico with me as the pilot. I did it three times in 550s. I was SPE.
I also did it in a 550 with Allen Wolpert as my SIC who we got signed off the day before as he was not typed in the 500 series. That's a trip we will never ever forget eh Allen? Total clown show having nothing to do with flying.

Yeah didn't Alex G help a guy get his bonanza back this summer too? If so that's amazing BT support but.....totally not worth the risk IMHO. Travelling planes are for convenience right? Getting your plane or yourself stuck in Mexico would NOT be convenient.
Think all it took was the right papers, probably small green(ish) rectangular ones

It’s not valid outside the US. Only question is if the person you happen to deal with looks or cares.
I used to have a 3rd class medical. I had lots of issues with that internationally so I got a second class. Still have one country (Peru) that would not accept saying that ICAO rules are that an ATP has to be accompanied by a 1st class medical. Who knows maybe that worker is gone and the new one will be fine again with second class medical.

This is the problem with Mexico. I don't have anything to add with respect to the SPE, but I hunted in Mexico every year with some buddies, once of which who has family there and knows the right people. After 3 years of jumping thru different hoops, I had enough. We did the same thing every year and it was something different every time. You just don't know what you are going to get and I wouldn't roll the dice on anything just because one person didn't have an issue with it.
