Yeah, I totally forgot about those guys. https://www.castleair.com/ They’ve grown a lot over the years. The last time I was there I think they were operating six Aerostars among others. Mike Grossman is an active AOA member. Good guy. He runs a real clean operation.

There is a lot to owning any legacy aircraft. You want to go into it with your eyes open as much as you can get them. The good thing is Aerostar Aircraft Corporation fully supports the aircraft. They own the type certificate. As in pretty much anything, you pay for what you get and even then there is no guarantee you are not going to pump in a whole lot of money to get any legacy aircraft where you want it. It is what it is.
Juliet Delta Aviation is an hour an twenty minute flight from Cleveland via Aerostar. It’s a six hour drive. Couldn't agree more. Mine is at Joel's right now.

There was a split a number of years ago, not sure if still an issue. A large number of owners jumped over to this forum: https://aerostar-forum.com/Tim

The AOA publishes an awesome magazine (that's at least as good as the ABS and Twin Cessna Flyer), a great training manual, and is so much more than a forum.

The A-F exists for a reason.

they both have good information. so join both and learn. like any activity especially with a bunch of type A people there are different opinions and you should search for the reasoning behind them to fully understand the situation.

Michael,
I assume you are an AOA Member as I didn’t see you on the A-F member list.
Ask a AOA board member from back in 2014.

Forrest I am on the A-F list and a member of AoA. IMHO, there are not enough A* owners & enthusiasts to support 2 Forums - it just subtracts from both. Setting up a second board just seems puerile.

Micheal,
Opinions are like noses, everyone has one.
I agree that one Aerostar organization ought to be enough.
That Bob and I have made the sustained effort to maintain an alternative ought to be an indication that we believe the reason for the A-F remains valid.
If you dig around on this string (pages 8-11) or on the early posts on the A-F you will find plenty of details on the reasons for the rift.
If you want a current point of view…..
Ask the current AOA Board members who were on the AOA Board back in 2014.
I believed then, and I believe now, that Aerostar owners and prospective owners need an unbiased source of information.

Heck ask on the AOA Forum what happened to me. Listen to what you are told. If you have it together enough to keep an Aerostar in Europe, your nose can tell the difference between s$&t and shineola.
