Jim Christy was kind enough to respond by email to give me the bad news. :sad:
The nose pitot tube is not available through A*. I understand that a couple of owners had installed them by field approval. I asked that on the AOA site and got a couple of "yeses" but no real info.

Not the most supportive group I have encountered. ****em.

They've been very supportive to me John. Actually, they've been extremely supportive.
You may have run into a few duds or so. My experience with AOA has been nothing but help beyond all expectations. Give them another shot. I'll bet your experience will improve. You appear to be happy with Jim Christy's response. He's on AOA on a regular basis along with others of similar expertise and personality. :peace:

I own a Cessna (182), Beech (V35A Project), and a Ted Smith 601P/SS700. I previously owned a Piper (PA28), and have a small maintenance shop, so we deal with various manufacturers all the time.

I can say, without a doubt, the support for the Aerostar has been 10X the level of support from the other manufacturers. John in Aerostar parts worked on the shop floor for many years, and not only knows the part, but has probably seen the symptom that I'm working with. I bought my airplane just as Al retired, so I only worked with him once or twice. Jim Christy helped me troubleshoot engine issues earlier this summer, and responded to questions through the AOA and BT forums. Ken Bacon of the AOA has answered a large amount of questions, and since he has a shop, also knows the airframe well.

John in parts (AAC) knows me (or I should say my plane) and my AP Joel well, my wallet would say they both know me to well. Yes, I could not be happier with all I have experienced with both AOA and AAC. All of them, Jim Christy, Ken Bacon, Jimmy Mullen, Don Smith, Joel Stout, and others will all talk to you for hours about Aerostar's. :thumbup:

I love it when one's personal experience doesn't meet someone else's expectations and they give you a minus. Whoever you are, stick it.

Ken Bacon and Jimmy Mullen are first rate, top notch :thumbup: . As supportive and knowledgeable as any two men I have ever known. I have also had one dealing with another in the A* community that was among the worst I have ever experienced in aviation.

We will leave it at that.

I've had no dealings with Mr. Christy and haven't had the need. He was nice enough to respond to my request.

There is a third alternative you are missing - the Aerostar-Forum dot com. They have 320 Members who are all owners / pilots. Membership is free and there are no ads or politics.

I put it on the radome of a 421 that I managed and it worked and looked great. Seem like I also installed one on my old B55, but I can't remember now.

That Jet is a remarkable aircraft - I have flown it (under careful supervision) and it performs so well. 5,000 feet a minute climb on reduced power. (Here is one of the many videos)

Takeoff roll was less than the stated 8 seconds (just under 7 actually)

That what happens when you use Canadian engines I guess.
