28 days without an Aerostar post is just too long Attachment: php9t88DNAM.jpg Left Charlotte with 200 gallons headed to Keys on Monday I planned on flying 55% power @ FL220 to keep from buying so much $6 gas at Marathon When I reached FL220 I was still in scattered tops and also concerned with tops around Georgia Florida line so I went to FL240. Briefly at FL260 with a short vector to stay above clouds/rain. Somehow I never could pull the power back below 65% 2 hours and 42 minutes... saved an hour vs my Columbia... not to mention the weather I was able to fly over vs through She is a whole lotta airplane....

Hey Brad, Remember Me? We spoke once by phone about moving out of the Columbia into the Aerostar. I see your in Marathon. I'll be there Saturday morning. Maybe I'll see you there. Randy Pugh 700BV

I bought a couple of the suction cup light screens from WalMart, in the baby aisle They worked great in Florida and Texas. Otherwise, did not need them. A few others went with the vinyl kind. Tim

Fantastic engine/prop sound.
Is it just me, or was that a really long takeoff roll?
high, hot, loaded?

Jim C PM’d me as well. I’ll check out what’s going on next time I’m at the hangar and get it taken care of. Thanks for pointing this out!

high, hot, loaded? Hi Mark, Yes I agree and they were hot and high, at 8,400 ft. airport elevation and it looked like the pilot also had full power in for some time before releasing the brakes. They are now in the process of installing intercoolers which will give them another 15 hp per side at sea level and effectively 25 HP per side due to the airport elevation vs. sea level. Take-off performance at that airport will be dramatically better after the intercooler installation. Best regards, Jim

Jim, the vertical stab on the aerostar looks a lot like the one on a merlin. You know any history on how or because of whom they are so alike?

Aaaahhhh.
I watched again and it does seem he held the brakes for a while. Didn't catch that on my first viewing. 8,400' MSL is no joke.
Thanks, Jim. I gotta get over and see you guys sometime this summer. Its been a while. Someone told me an Aerostar recently moved into the hangar across from me at PAE.
Haven't met them yet so i can't confirm.
Take care.
Mark
