What's the most plane one could buy for $750'000. New or used, twin or single?

Is experimental an option ? The 58 Baron is the best deal going for all around performance. No other airplane will give you the capability on such a low budget. The good ones are hard to find. It is the perfect plane for the east where turbos are not required.

This one wins. He is looking to reduce OPx. A 421C will cost the same or more per NM compared to a TBM going 40% faster. If the goal is to free up capital, then a 421C could be a good plane for him.

I dont think a 421 would qualify as 'downsizing'. The next step down from a TBM in terms of annual budget could be a Malibu Jetprop or some other Frankenplane like the Silver Eagle. Of course, a recent model Mirage could work for the low payload requiremen with the need for pressurization and some altitude capability. Two years ago at OSH, they had Shorts Tucano that was for sale. Could provide the range with a drop tank
