John,

Yes, an Avanti IS the only fitting move up for an Aerostar pilot.

Are you hinting at sumpN

Brad, I wish. Lol.

That pic was from a local pro pilot at CYQG that flies an Evo.

Is it that she can't get to FL390-410 fully loaded, or is it just painfully slow to do so?

Adam, The penalty for first hour at fl370 is not much fuel but use and while I can get to the higher altitudes when heavy, cruise speed suffers.

A rule of thumb I like is that if at 780 temps I can’t maintain 180ias I am better off lower.

Do you have a chance for a convo on this idea?? I looked you up on the Aerostar directory, but couldnt find ya.

Thx, Danny

How do you program this in FF? One of the biggest shortcomings of FF and any other tool is it picks one and only one cruise altitude.

FF PRO lets you create performance profiles and tables

A lot depends on the airplanes empty weight as well. The II is noticeably heavier than the I (especially Garmin vs PL21). The II would NOT go above 380 for me for the first hour and half without sacrificing 60 knots of speed and even then felt really mushy. This was troublesome when the weather was 100 nautical miles away that I needed to get over as was often the case over the gulf from Key West back to Dallas.

I misread this as FF includes fuel planning for flights with altitude changes.

In foreflight, create a waypoint along your route and set an altitude for it. Will update everything and use the cruise climb in your profile. Works quite well.

I have also been plugging in crossing altitudes I know I always get coming into Denver. Has made my flight planning much more accurate.

That's not working for me - I set the altitude for a waypoint, but when I look at the profile it's still monobloc. I have performance plus. What trick am I missing?

Same here.

edit: Oh, and the time and fuel calculation doesn't change at all either.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills. I got this to work two weeks ago after going back and forth with ff support. Now it’s not doing it. Can’t figure out what I am doing wrong. I will put a screenshot from navlog from last week where I got it to work too.
