Hourly Maint is similar to a king air by all accounts.

You go a lot further each of those hours.

Just hope you don't have to buy an overhauled carbon brake unit or a pitch trim actuator,,,, 38,000 (Per Side) and 39,000 respectively

Spoke to the maintenance guy of a company in Quebec that flys 3 of these Piaggio.
They are flying about 1200 hrs total per year for the 3 and maintenance is about 1.5-2 manhours per flight hrs.

Is that what you guys are seeing?

Would that have been John Maris's (Marinvent) plane? Not sure if they still have it.

No. Marinvent sold its plane several years ago. Ironically, it is now once again for sale:

This Avanti I has the Honeywell Primus Epic avionics package. In fact, it was the test bed for obtaining that STC in 2005. It is my understanding that in 15 years, it is the only Avanti in the entire fleet with this avionics package installed, with Garmin being by far the preferred way to upgrade the Avanti I. I'm wondering if being the only one of its kind will slow down (or substantially reduce the price) of this particular airplane?

Depends on the warranty or service program Honeywell offers for the install. If there isn't one I would treat it like an airplane that needed a Garmin upgrade ....

1300nm in 3.2hrs yesterday. Flew over the top of storms. Burned 290 gallons.

This morning, pinehurst NC to Harrisburg PA in an hour. Went to 33k feet.

Will never understand how they didn’t sell more of these although I completely get why a fractional was the largest customer. Half fuel burn is a real deal when you are flying all the time. Also, for a fractional, huge cabin is nice.

In other news, I finally figured out how to set vnav by fpm instead of angle. Such a neat feature.

I really hope Piaggio gets back on track with the Evo. This is an airplane that deserves to keep on going. So jealous!!

Anthony,

That's awesome! Please report your time westbound when you get home (and your headwind just to keep it fair!). Inquiring minds want to know...

Looking at the photo. Did you get the single point fueling issue solved?

Met Mark and saw his beautiful II at ICJ in Tulsa this afternoon. I don't know what the fuss about Avanti sound is. When he fired up, taxxied away and took off I thought it sounded awesome!

It's unique. And what's unique becomes a fuss...at least on the internet

Give a fellow a heads up next time, and he may just put a meal in your belly. Wondered if all the Avanti traffic today was some of the BT converts.

Made it home in about 4hs flying time with a 30 min stop in Iowa. Could have done non stop but ended up getting an almost 15 min delay after engine start and a slow climb after departure that ate up a bunch of fuel.

I got the guy to slow down the single point at the end and we got another 15 gallons in Tony, so it’s back to book when u adjust for fuel density.

I have done this PA to CO a lot over the last 13 years. First time was in Dakota, then a heap of trips in the Malibu and MU2. Now Piaggio. The Piaggio is the first one where there is really no fatigue from flying. No vibration. Very low noise. Traversing the country in airplanes is cool.

Agreed Anthony. The low noise level combined with a 4800' cabin at 35,000 feet really helps with fatigue on long legs.

Not to mention a usable head ;)
