Wow. That looks outstanding. I still cannot believe they did it so rapidly too.

Only 26 days after dropping off the Italian Job at Sureflight in Coatesville PA I was able to pick up a wonderfully detailed finished product.

The attention to detail and pride shown by DeWitte Binkley and his team is second to none. Whether you like my chosen scheme or not, a Sureflight’s product speaks for itself.

I’ll get some better pictures that show the “glass” feature of the paint.

They did put the erosion boots on. I was a little concerned about speed loss but the first flight speeds looked normal.

Perfect flight home. No squawks.

The actual highlight of the day was meeting BT’r Rich Palmer and getting to peek at a few beautiful and partially disassembled warbirds. Very impressive.

It was great to get to say hi.
Thx for the pizza invite.
Enjoy your ride, it looks great!

An Avantair bird, not a single screw is still airworthy.

Only good to start a homemade Level D simulator project!

I was talking to the lawyer who was admin this sale back in 2017, already. There was a way forward to get it up to speed via Dave Duncan, as the FAA had accepted a program from Piaggio USA/Dave to bring ex-Avantair aircraft back into airworthiness. It would be a lengthy process and at the time on the edge financially. One engine was also missing from it then.

Here is the appraisal I got.

Seriously, what really happened, and what caused AvantAir to be such a fiasco?

Negligence?
Incompetence?
Fraud?
Lack of oversight?

In my opinion they had all the competencies required to run such a big fleet. The reasons may be others.
As soon as the first serious incident occourred, FAA overisight showed up but the situation was too much compromized to recover.
For sure it was negative also for the aircraft reputation, later it was clear that was a bad maintenance habit, not reliability.

Love the paint job ... perhaps it was posted, but what does it cost to do a full exterior paint job on a P180? Just curious ... "for a friend." :D
