I know the difference isn’t huge regardless.[/quote] We flew back at FL20 to stay out of as much wind as possible (still about 80 knots). As to the I vs. II the II is supposed to climb faster but I don't know about top speed. In the end cruise speed has more to do with weight than anything else. I notice an increase in speed throughout the flight as fuel burns off. I usually fly max range legs with an initial full fuel load so if you were flying 500 mile legs a lot your average cruise speed would be faster than mine. The way I looked at it when I was looking for a plane is that I wanted the best condition and price regardless of model. I made offers on a couple of I's (including Matt's!) and a couple of II's before buying mine. Had I bought a I I would have done exactly what Matt has with his plane. They are all great.

Anyone have any issues with intermittent trim switch failure? My pilot side always passes preflight and works well on departure but intermittently doesn't operate when I'm in final descent and landing. I've used the copilot switch to trim which works but isn't optimal. Sent the shop a note, and I'm sure they'll ask Chris at Piaggio but wondered if anyone else had seen this issue?

You pay the FBO to do it.
(there is an enclosed container which holds the flushing fluid and the consequences of flushing which you remove from the potty enclosure, carry through the plane, dump and reinstall. My wife doesn't want to do all of that, I'm too cheap to pay the FBO to do it so we use kitty litter and trash sacks which works very well indeed. Everyone is happy.)

My next plane is going to be a Citation V if oil prices stay low or a P180 if they are high. I am still worried about parts and service on a P180, but I live 5 miles from IJS so I should be able to keep one flying. Plus if Tarver gets involved he'll buy the salvage ones and store them so we'll have access to parts. All that to say, you do know that Aircraft inventories are critically low right?

I haven't asked our home base (Sheltair at KBJC) but I'm curious if they will do it, what do your guys charge? Also at home might be awkward to ask the guys you see twice a month to go ahead and empty your pee into a toilet for you?
The 441 flushing toilet doesn't have the cartridge, you just flip the seat up, disconnect the pump, and the bowl stays connected to the assembly (I think, haven't done it yet)
I thought about the double doodie bags (same idea as your kitty litter but I think more convenient) but not sure how that would work with the flushing toilet. Do you still use the toilet then?

John, I've never had it serviced so I don't really know what the charge is though I saw a $100 fee on an FBO fee schedule not long ago so I am guessing that is what is typical. The toilet bowl doesn't hold liquid. When you flush that's when liquid is introduced to the bowl during the flush. So, I just put the bag with kitty litter in the bowl and spread the bag around the opening. Seems to work great. I do have a relief tube as well for those that can use it.

Do you still use the toilet then? I have a flushing lav in my 501. I "converted" it into a dry system simply by not filling the blue water tank, unplugging the pump (so someone couldn't accidentally run it dry and burn it up), and then put a double doody bag (without the gel) inside the holding tank. Mine is probably the same as yours where the bowl lifts up with the seat. I simply flare the doody bag on top of the holding tank and then lower the bowl into the opening. After someone goes they sprinkle smell-eze into the hole. Has worked well so far. The only downside over a bucket is that the bowl still gets some pee. But a sprinkle of smell-eze around the bowl and a paper towel pushes it into the bag and off you go. I should also note that it is only used for #1. I tell anyone that if they go #2 that they are responsible for disposal and cleaning.

About the only downside so far is these #*oo@! phase inspections. I just dropped mind off this morning for 6 month, 200 hr and 60 month inspection which includes a pretty intrusive corrosion inspection. Will be hamstrun Gwith only flying Citabria for 2-3 weeks. Yoos buys a Ferrari yoos getz Ferrari maintenance schedule. As to servicing the LAV I consider it pretty easy. Slide lid closed pop two plastic holders loose disconnect hose then remove bowl. I do this when unloading bags into my truck then drive down to T-hangar where Citabria is and use restroom at end of T-hangars. Saves me walking bowl through FBO although If that were me only choice I would. My family and friends love having the LAV if needed. It gets used a bit less than I expected.

Evo S/N 3018 delivered this week to a Far East customer. You can notice the enlarged door, just look at the fuselage between the door and the first window. Attachment: 819B02FF-F1A4-449E-B471-151437EAD80D.jpeg
