Dropped my Avanti I off for paint at Sureflight in Coatesville PA today. For anyone that follows Premier1 driver it's where he had paint done. I've worked with them before and they are just awesome people. I'm excited for the end product. There is a decal on the outside and I was thinking of asking them to remake it as an "Avanti IIIG" (new P&I & Garmin).
These planes are just awesome. Non-stop this week from Phoenix to Columbus, 1300lbs of people & stuff, landed with tight but comfortable VFR reserve, 4 hours, approx 350 gallons. Nice tailwind but nothing crazy, PHX kept me low for some time.
I'm sensing Anthony is heading for a jet...if anyone is looking for the most economical, high speed, high payload turbine aircraft I'd start lining up at his door. Sorry if this has been answered before but how does the avanti to in terms of lbs/nm/hr?
This is about the limit at high speed cruise. That’s about .6?

First dibs on Anthony's!

I typically see about 260ish a side at FL360-380 and 250-360 true. Yesterday I needed a stop, weather was nice so I stayed low at FL 300 for trip to KSTS with stop at KABQ. It was more like 350/side. It was more like 370-377. I don’t pay attention to Mach but noticed .62 at one point.

Username Protected wrote: No jets for me Matt! Costs are just too high and there really are not too many benefits. Plus, I really love flying the Avanti! You can spend a lot more opex and capex to get a couple more seats (if you need them) a very small increase in speed or range and a less attractive cabin in a larger “light” jet. Or you you can spend a huge amount more in opex/capex in a medium body jet to get that with a cabin of the same or bigger size of the P180. Avanti sits is a really unique place in the market for speed/range/costs/comfort.

That is impressive. 441 seems to be about the same at 350, but it is going slower and has a smaller cabin. C340 is about 7nmpg, but gets crushed in a headwind.

Happy 35th birthday! Happy birthday to one of the most innovative aircraft made! Development, as I recall, started in the 70's and was a response to the energy crisis. It's amazing that almost 50 years after its conceptualized inception, with the low drag 3-lifting surfaces, it's still the most efficient plane out there.

Brad,
I'm curious what airport you plan to use if you're going to NYC? Gotta go there late next month.
