With the tail number, I can look up the history and maybe come up with some info. We’ve got notes on a lot of them, but not all.

I’ll be happy to get a ferry permit and fly her to the engine shop.

From top fuel port I would fuel right side until over half the lean went away.

Just need to be light and have long runway with a right crosswind.
10,000 pounds she would get airborne round 4,500 feet IF I could keep her on the runway initially.

Think green color
Enough delusions of grandeur for the morning.

About to fly down to Palm Beach for Sim training Thursday and Friday am :D

I believe Ted Smith pulled a similar stunt with the Aero Commander? Tried to find the article but was unable. Something about flying it to the Feds on a single engine with the prop tied down in the back for the return trip.

Yes, an Aero Commander once took off from Wiley Post with one propeller secured in the cabin and flew 1,000+ miles to DC.

"The Aero Commander was capable of taking off, flying and landing on a single engine while maintaining a high degree of stability. To prove this, and to enhance market recognition of the plane, in May of 1951, the Company successfully completed a flight from Oklahoma City to Washington DC loaded to full gross weight with one propeller removed from the plane. This was a first for the aviation industry and a strong demonstration of the asymmetric control and responsiveness of the Aero Commander."
https://twincommander.com/about-us/

Even as a Commander owner, I have to admit the main reason that a Commander could do the flight is because you can taxi and accelerate a Commander in a straight line on one engine. Other twins of the day could only make circles on the ramp. ;)

For this poor Piaggio, you'd probably need about 10,000 more feet of runway, unfortunately. Density altitude the day I stopped was over 8,000 ft.

This is SN 1199 and currently advertised by another broker @ 2.5m, with approx 5400TT. Not sure why the engine came off.

First time into Palm Beach county park airport. LNA.
Last time wife brought 3 friends and we went to PBI
Longest runway is near 3500 feet.
When metar showed 9 knots straight down runway 10 I grinned a bit and thought...maybe I can stop and turn off at FBO. ~2,000 feet me tinks.
9700 pounds
114 kias over the fence +2/-1
Sim tomorrow am
A wee bit excited

Headwind Denver to Harrisburg today. 1300nm. Flew at FL410 to make reserve requirement. 70db behind pilot seat. Landed w 700lbs. Speed was 340-345 which wasn’t bad given temps. Eventually warmed up to ISA+8 and I slowed down to 333. Was burning 450-460 lbs/hr.

Flew Southwest today. Iphone reported middle seat row 3 at 79db. Amazing Piaggio is that much quieter than the front of a 737.

My C90B can hit 81db in the cockpit, 79db in the back seats seems plausible, if not beaten

That is unbelievable to consider. What plane is quieter?

Hi Everyone,

First post. Writing from Poland. My planes so far: DA40, E300, TBM9, LJ75.

After two years and 650 hours, I am selling the Learjet. Looking at the Piaggio Avanti as next ride. My mission is EPPO-LPFR, which is 1400NM GC. I am looking at the Evo with extended tank. It may take a little longer, but will be 5 times cheaper. What do you think?

I see cool planes and STCs in the US market, which are not accessible in EASA-land. I would need FAA licence to make use of them. Is it difficult to convert from EASA ATPL? What level of licence would I need to fly an Avanti and what level for an Encore+ SP? Is it PPL/IR for Piaggio and CPL for Cessna?

This thread is a great read. Thanks for all the valuable infos.
Tomasz

I looked it up for for the Encore. It takes an FAA exemption, requiring CPL. IR, CE-500 type rating, and FAA approved single pilot training course. Don't know if EASA is different or conversion. Then, there are insurance requirements.

Edit: I looked it up and Easa does not apparently have a single pilot waiver/exemption for 500 series Citations and there are restrictions for flying an EASA based aircraft on an FAA license. You may need advice from someone with more EASA expertise.
