Move the trim panels forward (remove the spacer), mount the GCU485 on a smaller plate, and you should have room for a nice pocket

Yeah, that’d work.

How is the GCU485 attached on Matt’s picture, I wonder? He doesn’t have the Dzus (?) fasteners in the edges, somehow the GCU is in the rails without those. That would help me reduce the amount of space the GCU takes.

The panel it is mounted in has the Dzus at each corner. The GCU itself fits in a cutout in that plate. It just has a camlock to hold it in

Hey P180 owners, anyone have pics of their nose gear strut extension? I’m curious to see whether mine might be a little low.

If low, anyone ever had nitrogen added? MM procedure says jack the airplane, wondering if anyone has an easier way. How much pressure required?

Here’s a pic. Feels extended more than normal - but I’m not certain. I checked my fuel receipts to confirm it wasn’t full of fuel - which on mine will extend the nosegear. The nose that is off is light - doubt it would make a difference. Sorry -+ not much help.

Thanks Matt. Here’s mine, which feels a bit low.

My issue is that I just got an AC AirTech tug. But there is a lot of wheel slop in the carriage. That is adjustable, but that raises the carriage bar height when closed. When I do that, the loading bar side of the carriage hits the scissor link that is in the aft side of the gear. Has potential to knock out zerk fittings, or worse. So… need to figure out how to get that better.

Adam, does your friend with the P180 and ac air tug have any issue with that? Looks like his scissor is a bit more extended and higher, perhaps. Which is what got me asking about gear extension.

Looks a tad bit low. The Lazy Susan of the Ac Air Tug should fit without hitting the scissor, from what I hear from my guy with the one based at field.

One of the aerovanti charter planes had a main gear collapse in Cinci.

Oh geez - that's not good (saying selfishly a bit, as my insurance renews in 30 days...)

The diversion to Cincinnati Lunken from Cleveland Burke Lakefront is intriguing. Occurs about 15 minutes from destination, passing through 15,000' after they had passed Cincinnati.

Looking at METARS for KBKL at the time it doesn't appear to be a weather diversion unless the 25G35 winds (down the runways) weren't desired. KLUK was 15G25, but with more cross wind component.

Did they know they had an issue and thought KLUK facilities were better? Not sure what would alert them at that phase of flight - unless they had a hydraulic failure noticed on t/o?

Passengers might start getting texts at that altitude and change destination - but news report said no passengers aboard. Maybe "company" diverted them.

Stuff happens. Hate that it does...

I've got a bunch of photos of it taken by the crew but don't have permission to post yet. The right main gear lever fitting failed. Apparently only the pilot on board and the gear failed on landing. Took a big crane to get it off the runway.

Here is a strut shot taken today. 1000lbs of fuel at this time…so not tail heavy.

So I’ve seen a small panel mounted mirror on a few P180s now, for viewing passengers. Here is an example, but I’ve seen others. Anyone have a mirror they like? Where to buy?

Does anyone have a avanti 1 checklist in ForeFlight they would be willing to share with me?

Yep. I’m guessing the process is easy. Would need your email? PM me.

If there is anyone that would like to have something 3D printed with manufacture quality, please let me know. I designed and printed pen holders, flight log holder, and an IPAD holder for the back seat on my cub. I put this out there because of the comments wanting different storage options and such. We can design it if you have dimensions also. If you have a design then just go to jawstec.com.
Hope this helps

Does anyone has experiences with turning tyres on the P180?
We have a lot of wear on the outside of the main gear tires. It looks like Piaggios maintenance does switch tyres from left to right, however our maintenance guys say they won't do it, because they believe it would lead to unexpected flat tires ... any experience with this topic would be highly appreciated! Thx.
