Forgive me Adam for jumping in here late and if this has already come up as I have not read the whole thread. Piaggio worked with RUAG to develop a gear retrofit for all existing Avantis that has a 15,000 cycle/15 year maintenance profile. I can't remember the cost but I recall that it did not seem completely crazy. I'll go back to lurking now.

It's important to note that it's in receivership, not liquidation or bankruptcy - though some will argue with the semantics. I agree with Adam that the airplane will continue to be built and supported, and it may even be the same Piaggio - with new management and far less debt. The airplane is just amazing.
I'm curious to see if there will be adjustments to asking prices in the existing fleet due to the uncertainty. I haven't seen or heard anything yet, but there could be a buying opportunity for someone already in the market.

Adam (turbo commander) Being multi engine turbine airplane don't you need to specify what maintenance program you will follow for a ME turbine with your local Feds office? I flew an MU2 and had to send a letter to that effect. We had to choose the manufacturers program or design one ourselves and have it approved. If the manufacturer said to overhaul the props at 7 years we had to do it even being Pt 91. Did I miss something back then?

Adam -
I imagine you stuck your head in the cockpit! Was it a PL21 model?
Absolutely love the look of that bird!

Here’s my take. With thousands of hours in king airs, the Avanti II is like moving into the next century. The plane makes a King Air seem like an old truck (and I do love king airs), but hands down there’s absolutely no comparison. It’s easy to fly single pilot and the proline 21 is easy to work with. Up front is super quiet and the boss loves it in the cabin. There’s just nothing that handles like it and nothing that can compare on a per hour cost basis. Only thing I could maybe wish for would be 500lbs or so more fuel.

And to add, with cruise between 375 and 400 knots according to outside temp, it’s super good on a per mile basis.
