I just love the feeling and the light and the music. If you open it in YouTube the following comments are: "We shot the video with a prototype Arri Alexa M digital cinema camera, and a Fujinon Alura 18-80mm zoom lens, fitted to a Pictorvision Eclipse gyro-stabilized helicopter mount. The A-Star helicopter was flown by Peter McKernan. Abby Sunderland was the First Camera Assistant, and David Arms was the Pictorvision Tech.
We shot the piece at Santa Paula Airport, over Lake Casitas, and along the shore of the Pacific Ocean northwest of Oxnard, CA.

I have been cleaning out old boxes of stuff removed from my Mother's home last year. I came across my father's diary from 1942-1945. He was a USN flight surgeon and was one of the lucky ones who they taught to fly too. One entry from Saufley field in 1943. " We took a Boeing PT 17 out today for my second ride. Loops, rolls, Immelmans and snap rolls. It wasn't long before I was sick" I gather that he survived it because there were many subsequent entries about hops in TBM's SNJ's SB2C's a PBY and other such fun things. Others not so much fun about guys in his squadron crashing on the flight deck, the flights over Japan, Okinawa and the Philippines. I might buy that Stearman sooner than later since I cant fit into anything much smaller!. Great video. CK you are a lucky guy!!

OH boy, this Bill Bennett has another one up. luuuuuvly Credit:Uploaded on 3 Feb 2012 Working with Director Todd Allan, I was Cinematographer for this short film for Dolby Laboratories, to demonstrate their very high performance PRM4200 reference monitor. The Producer was Loren Nielson of Entertainment Technology Consultants. The aircraft is a North American Aviation AT-6, beautifully restored, with a highly polished exterior.
We shot the aerials from an Aérospatiale A-Star helicopter, fitted with a Wolfe Air Gyron gyro-stabilized camera mount, containing an Arri Alexa, with an Angenieux Optimo 24-290mm lens. The images were recorded in ArriRaw format to an on-board S-two recorder.
The aerial photography was done over the Santa Monica Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, and Catalina Island, all near Los Angeles, CA. The runway is at Catalina Airport, a private strip built on the top of a mountain, 1,600 feet above sea level. With a length of 3,000 ft, and sheer drop-offs on three sides, it can be quite a challenge for a pilot, particularly on a windy day.
The ground photography was done at Santa Paula Airport, a beautiful little airfield about 45 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
