That's great. I kinda felt like piper was dead and gone but this is a good upgrade.

I agree Jason. That airplane would suit nearly all of my flying needs. My only gripe with it is luggage space. It would be nice if it retained the luggage compartment of the Mirage and Jet Prop airplanes. It would be hard to fit luggage for 6 adults behind the back seats. I hope the airplane is a home run for Piper.

A "top payload" of 1,200 pounds per the AvWeb article, for the M600. I wonder how much range that gets you. At $2.82 million, it would seem to be touching close to prices for more capable airplanes.

The ~$3M price tag isn't an issue?

Seems like a lot for what it is, even if it had luggage space.

Piper did their homework. It fits a completely unique category. They added capability of the M600 opens up a new market for Piper. The specs aren't certified yet, so they publish what they know for sure. They are likely to have a few surprises in Q4.

I spin by the Piper plant every time I pass through Vero, and it always is very; very quiet.

A friend was at FlightSafety in the early 80's and said it was a completely different scene.

Seems a far cry from the company that used to advertise "we built more airplanes than anyone else in the world", or something to that effect.

I wish them well.

Best,
Rich

Is this unique category "almost as much money as a TBM, but not as good"?

TBM 900 is a vastly superior airplane for $3.7M, IMO.

TBM would do well to reintroduce a de-contented 700 and beat them. $1mm is plenty of space for a niche.

This was the plane the meridian always should have been but couldn't be with the TBM at $3mm

You're absolutely right. Got an extra $1 mil in your pocket? ...And a significant difference in operating cost.

Don't forget about the Eclipse 550 or nascent SF50 for about the same money. Dollars per seat mile are probably close for all three and none of them will hold any luggage!

Or the Mustang for that matter.

The Meridian line has really good ramp presence. I like how they look.

I still think they should have finished their jet.

They don't have the money for that. Look how long Honda has been at it.
