I have decided to buy an MU2. I have narrowed down to 3 possible aircraft. I registered for the initial training and the Fed-Ex with all the study material arrives today. The annual is complete on the Baron and it came through with shining colors. I listed it on BT but will hand over the duties for selling it to a well known BT'r next week sometime. I am supposed to take a ride with one of the sellers in his plane early next week so I will report back after that flight. Stepping up to this level of plane is beyond anything I thought I'd ever be able to do and I am humbled by the fact that I get to embark on such an exciting process. I have the insurance all but handled as well as the hanger arrangements. Although not ideal its workable in a community hanger at KTME. This is going to be fun....

Was on the same trail about 12 years ago and wish I would have taken the plunge. I did go to a 2 day "prop-2002" seminar out in Scottsdale. Very, very informative presentation on the operations and maintenance of the Garrett turboprop engine, including a factory tour.

If they are still organizing this event, I believe you will be pleased with the presentations as well as the stories of fellow MU-2 owners attending.

My focus at the time was the short body Solitare dash-10...I am betting the pricing is substantially lower now than the 1 million plus for a good example back in 2002!

Good luck w/ your purchase.

Jerry

Great James! Welcome to the club. I have found that most Mits owners grow more fond of the airplane over time, versus less. Hope you will too.

Congrats. As much as I've flown and love King Air's, I think an MU-2 might win me over if I were to ever purchase a turbo-prop for personal use. It is a phenomenal design. Have fun and be safe.

I think it's the sleeper value in twin turbo props. Looking forward to seeing which one you picked.

Don't ask the owner to demonstrate anything at the corners of the envelope. Save that for your training. Just enjoy a familiarization flight.

I knew you would. I was sitting in Joe Megna's office in Green Bay on Tuesday when you called him. Let me tell you something about Joe Megna and Jet Air- those guys are freaking fantastic. I could tell you an hour's worth of stories about how they bend over backwards for you. I hear all the service centers are good, but I only have personal experience with using that one. Continental Jet in Tulsa has also been super helpful. So has CTS. I would trust anyone Reece recommends as well.

Congrats!

James, you are my hero! My two favorite airplanes, I call them "a pilot's airlplane" are the Beech D18 and any of the MU-2's. I've got some P & J time and loved every second of it. Something about it just felt "right"... noisy little 'B', but the look of the MITs on the ramp, even screaming like it does, it just gives me the grins.... especially with full tips and the wing droop that goes with it. Let me know when you get that baby in your hangar, I'll buy your lunch one day for left seat flash back... just in the hangar of course!

Congrats James!,

Welcome to the club, we have had a 21 year love affair with the MU-2, wish you all the best which ever of the 3 you choose.
