Here is the same airport in France. A video of a G36 arrival. This airport is wicked nuts!

Really old video.

I've been in and out of there with the Eclipse. The nose wheel ran out of runway about 10 knots prior to Vr. Fun stuff.

It works right up to the time it doesn't
Even the Citation dropped a little after leaving the pavement.
Thie reminds me of the new movie Mc Conkey.
He skied off of mountains and popped a chute hundreds of times.
It worked every time except once. His last.
I was lucky to have met him and skied a run with him in Chilie.
I look at this stuff with the understanding that if the odds on success are 1000/1 and you do it 1001 times, the doctor says "boy, you gonna die".

The G36 looks like it is pretty fast on the approach. Of course this is at altitude and that could add to his ground speed as well as a tailwind.
Due to the runway slope I would assume, you always takeoff down hill and land uphill.

There must be some high motivation for wanting to be there.

Cool video.

There are rules of thumb. For every 1% of gradient it adds/subtracts 10% of runway length. To figure out if you should takeoff with a tailwind downhill figure you need a 1% down gradient for each 3 knots of tailwind to break even. Many runways, that one in France included, can't be safely used to takeoff uphill no matter what the wind.

That's certainly true, but I rather extend the time I have, to complete more of my bucket list before I die.
My whole life, I have been a risk taker, but I usually don't do anything I can't successfully do without dieing or getting seriously getting hurt, 99 out of 100 attempts.
I figure with those odds, I can take such a risk a couple of times a year and have a 50/50 chance of making it to the end in my nineties and die of natural causes.
If I die doing something risky, so be it.
All of BT can post anything they want about how stupid I was.

BTW, I never take too much risk with fuel, thunderstorms, ice or low level showing off.

Perhaps. Perhaps we keep coming back until we get it right. Perhaps the Dali Lama knows. Check out a book "Many Lives Many Masters". True story written by an MD.

Myself? I would like to leave something of meaning behind when I leave. And I don't want to come back till things get fixed round here. :D

Would that be legal? In transport category certified aircraft, one must go to the take off tables and have a balanced field. Hard to believe this plane could do a V1 cut near V1 and stop on that runway. 'Course I don't know what model this was and what the takeoff weight was. Maybe it was very light, but I'd sure want to look at the takeoff tables and see if it was even permitted. What's the field length and percent decline there? What model Citation was this? Obstacles weren't a issue and it was VFR; so, climb gradient wouldn't seem to be a factor if an engine went out after V1. Just wondering if one could even legally do it here.

Best,

Dave

I'm sure it's totally illegal "here" which is why it's so cool.

My guess is that with the lack of obstacles you could start the roll with one shut down and fly away.
