You really think position holders will want to wait 10 years for their new aircraft?
They'll keep a close eye on how the price on positions develops before they overextend themselves on a production rate increase. Flooding the market with SR22s during the 04 to 07 boom is what caused used prices to depress later on.
A used one already up for sale?

Or putting down a deposit for one 6+ years from now?

I looke at controller.com to see if any actual SF50s were for sale, not yet.

But there are at least 22 positions for sale right now, seemingly a high water mark.

If anybody did want to buy an SF50, buying a position will get it cheaper and sooner than joining the back end of the order book.

My take on the (at one point significant) SR22 value freefall

1) massive worldwide recession
2) Cirrus continually adding stuff such that a 3-4yo plane was significantly different than new
3) True Believers buying new every 2-3 years and flooding the market with 300SNEW aircraft
4) Massive price increases such that a plane could lose 30% of it's purchase price and be 50% less than a new one

All of that has settled down. A 2013 SR22 isn't nearly as far from a 2017 as the 2003 and 2007 models were

What were they flying prior? Curious if they were SR22 drivers or another make.

They don't have to. They just pay for a low SN position if they need the plane earlier. Sell your later position, buy one that comes up in the timeframe you need. There is an entire cottage industry of brokers that does nothing but matching position holders with buyers.

For those that have them. Is the full data on the plane in the post Mike C of registered SF50?

There was one on the ramp in front of the FBO at Madison yesterday when we were out loading up the King Air. I pointed it out to my niece as we walked past. She thought it was 'cute'.

My hangar neighbor got to fly the SF50 last week. He currently owns an SR22 with turbo. They were trying to get him to buy one after a sale fell through. He said it was a lot easier to fly than his SR22. We was able to fly it for an hour and flew the entire time, takeoff to landing. They let him to stalls, steep turns, spirals, anything he would normally do in his SR22 for a checkout. He said he just about bought it on the spot. He thinks in a year or 2 his business with grow enough to where he could justify it.

I have a friend who sells aviation insurance. I have told him he needs to get ready for the pilots that will be transitioning straight from piston singles to turbines.

Anyone know how this is being handled with the SF50?

Easy to fly or not... underwriters freak out when they see 0 turbine time.

Does single piston to single jet negate the need for twin time?

And in Cirruss's ideal case, transitioning from the SR22, 0 retractable time.(!)

This is nothing new. There’s a whole bunch of us that have gone from piston singles to turbines. Underwriters have been dealing with it for years.
