Wow, what were the indications of the engine failure? Was it an immediate lost of thrust or something more gradual; thinking yaw? Where were you in the takeoff roll?

A friend owns the Klingon now. The impeller broke (5th known failure ever I believe), which shot the fan out the front and chucked the HT blades out the cowl. Pretty rare failure that occurs on spool up for take off. There's an AD on the impellers to check for manufacturing defects. The motor was about 400 hours until overhaul but you can inspect the impeller at the hot section too. Here's the old AD: https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/refere ... y-advisoryIt only applies to certain impeller part numbers.

Had Murmer do my paint and interior as well. Have been very pleased with the result.

It has the potential to cut control lines, critical wiring, and depressurize the airplane in addition to having an engine out. You would be facing multiple critical emergencies all at once. Mike C.

Agreed but 5 reported cases in the millions of 500/501 hours is a pretty low probability. All reported cases occurred during take-off spool up.
