Dan,

What are you going to fly during the months (or years) of RV-7 construction?

I can confirm that it will not be completed in a matter of months. That's all I have to say about that.

It's worth it to see it through to the finish. I've flown in various friends' 4, 6, and 7, and I once watched an 8 make its first flight. Some folks refer to RVs as "ramp fleas." It's meant facetiously and it's also a testament to what a hit these things are in the experimental/amateur-built world.

In One of the Flying Magazines they phrased it this way:

Quote:
In the world of experimental aircraft there are two types, RV's and everything else.

Yep. Van's has killed a large portion of the kit industry by selling something that no one can compete with. There are some that are easier and faster to build (much easier and faster) but wind up costing just as much and don't perform in anything like the same class. Examples would be RANS, Zenith, and Kitfox. There are others that perform as well but cost more or take even longer to build, like Glasair or several that are now defunct.

On the one hand, good for them. On the other, I miss the variety.

Per David's prodding here are some of the photos from our flight up the Sunshine Coast North of Brisbane, Australia and return through Glass House Mountains. David has a amazingly well equipped RV10 that flies great. Still looking for the missing second engine?

BRS has chutes for RVs but not yet for RV6

Makes the RV even more attractive, at least for me.

Slowly, but mostly forward. Almost finished with the second fuel tank. I took some time off over the holidays (grandchildren, travel). Also redid some of the top skin on the left wing. I wasn't happy with how it looked.

After about three years with no back seat passengers and only a couple right seat, I parted with my almost perfect TN A36. After looking hard for a couple months I found this RV7A, Garmin G3X touch, IO360 200 HP and made offer sight unseen. I now have about 40 hours in her and fly 3 times a week just for fun. TAS is 165 kts if you choose to burn an exorbitant amount of fuel (10 GPH) :D I really like BT and can't believe I found an RV thread.
