If you are willing to fly at FL180, it gets much easier, 183 KIAS...
The next question is, what stall speed are you willing to accept? If you want to limit yourself to a 61 kt stall speed, then at 183 KIAS, you have 9 gs available at cruise and that is going to be an airplane that rides rough but acceptably in turbulence....
That pretty much describes a Meridian, it is just a tad faster 61 KCAS stall and Vmo limited to 188 KIAS at FL180, but what is that formula you used?

Most will not dismiss the pluses on the Lancair IV, its when that giant fan stops spinning is when the that airframe shows its colors. Have you had a dead stick landing in a Lancair IV?

Lift increases with the square of speed. So if an airplane that stalls at 61 Kts at 1 G. Then at 2 Gs the stall speed is 1.414 x 61 = 86 Kts At 3 Gs the square root of 3 is 1.73 so 61 x 1.73 = 105 kts At 4 Gs the square root of 4 is 2 so the stall speed is 122 kts And the square root of 9 Gs is 3 so the 9 G stall speed is 183 kts. If you have a 4 G air frame with a 180 Vne, The "G available," the amount of Gs you can pull before the wing stalls, is twice the maximum structural limit, far beyond the 150% protection afforded by the certification requirements. That makes the Stick (or yoke) the "wing removal lever."

Now it is just the wife and I 90% of the time. Lots of IFR. I am slowing down on business flying, now it is just getting to Florida/New Orleans/Lubbock/occasional Mexico from San Antonio as quickly, comfortably and safely as possible. I cannot quit looking at the Lancair 4P and similar 4 seat models. I am not mechanically inclined, but am happy to pay someone who is for maintenance work. Before I troll the experimental boards, I thought I would query here. It is not about saving money, it is about 165kts vs 240kts or so. What am I missing or havent thought of. Death? Jgreen
