It was indeed a nice tailwind, the GPS groundspeed was correct, but the IAS was way low, and consequently the TAS and tailwind calculated from IAS were way off as well. Re-securing the connector fixed the big leak but still left a smaller leak that turned out to be in the Garmin pitot tube itself, has probably always been there. That may explain why GPS triangles show the "IAS reads low at high speeds" discrepancy is a little larger in mine than in most Evos (~10 kts vs. ~7 kts typically).

Username Protected wrote: Did you notice any increased in starting temps or take off temps with the new plenum? No. I haven't looked at takeoff temps, although I suppose they are on the data cards, but I do record starting temps and I haven't noticed any increase. Mine have always been high, ~700, even with the old plenum, but the new plenum didn't make them worse.

They had two bodies completed and were preparing the new wings. They had the new landing gear assembled and installed on both planes. They said it's going slow but they're working through the build process and setting up build stations and processes while they're assembling these first two.

I got pictures of them making wings so they’re doing something over there.

The pitot condom that we used during the test is supposed to cover that bleed hole, although I didn't personally confirm that it did. Closing the loop on the leaky pitot story, at the annual we pulled and bench-tested the pitot tube. Under water, bubbles showed it leaking from one of the mounting holes. Pressurized to 300 knots, it leaked down at 50 kts/min. We replaced it with a new pitot tube that tested as leaking down at just 3.2 kts/min from 300 knots.
I plan to put a second pitot tube on the other wing, as JMB is already doing for the new production. It will be plumbed into the right side G3X display, making the two sides completely independent.
