Cirrus adds steps around it beyond the typical type rating course. I doubt it can be done much less than 4 weeks for an SR pilot. Lots of things to learn that the SR doesn't have such a retractable gear, anti ice, pressurization, turbine starting, yaw damper, and so on. Jay talks about his training in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgM_MeJKahgMike C. Yes. Cirrus takes a guy that has never flown anything other than a fixed gear plane and, in 4 weeks, he has completed a type rating PLUS 25 hours with a mentor pilot. At this point he has satisfied the insurance requirements and is good to go. Are you trying to tell me than this can be done quicker in a Citation, Honda Jet, or anything else?? Come on dude, we know you hate this jet, but no one else has come up with a training program that works this way! No way is a fixed gear pilot going to transition into a normal jet in 4 weeks and be signed off by his insurance company.

he can't, because jason made a wager on sales and Mike is only arguing as an engineer.
regarding the SF50, i think most of would agree that: 1. it's ugly 2. it's a sub-par performer compared to other jets 3. it will sell like hotcakes and create a new market niche just like cirrus re-invented the piston SEL market

regarding the SF50, i think most of would agree that: 1. it's ugly 2. it's a sub-par performer compared to other jets that cost twice as much 3. it will sell like hotcakes and create a new market niche just like cirrus re-invented the piston SEL market FIFY Why does everyone keep missing that part of the argument?

I quickly said the serenity prayer and stepped away from the Vision. Then I told Red Bo I was sorry and that the flesh is weak. Great flight home! I looked at one the other day too. I loved it. SF50 is all about the cockpit where as every other plane ever made is all about the cabin. It's easy to love.

It should be self-evident.

It doesn't have to be rationalized as competing with this or that. it will create it's own market just like the SR20/22 did.
