And for the record, John Green's paint scheme is one of the best I have ever seen. Norman, What a nice thing to say! It was designed by a gentleman who, I think, was an engineer and just liked to do airplane paint schemes on the side. Unfortunately, soon after sending me his schemes, he passed away from cancer. The Aerostar's lines and mid wing design make it a challenge. The one I chose was far and away the simplest and the colors the most subdued. I didn't want a scheme or colors that would, with time, become tiresome. The only thing I regret is using my initials. My personal preference is numbers with no letters. I do think it is "dressed" more appropriately for a formal dinner than a New Year's bash. Sunshine Paint, now located here in Grenada did the paint job and I think did a good job. They assure me they can change the letters to numbers without undue issue. I'm fretting mightily as to whether to keep or sell it. Our lives have changed dramatically since I bought it four years ago and we simply don't use it now. I go out every Sunday and shoot approaches to keep her oiled up. The good news is I am very current under the hood. But again, thank you for the compliment. Jgreen

John Grady, Watch that head size after all of the compliments, including mine, on your paint scheme. Seriously, that is a bad ass paint job. Hands down the best A* paint scheme I have ever seen.

There's a little more to it than that. You have to keep the cap latching mechanism clean and lubed just like any other airplane, AND you have to check the amount of force it takes to open. I dont remember the exact numbers, but it is important that both wing caps are the same. It is easy to adjust.

My problem with not pulling fuel out of the wings was perished seals in the fuel caps.

You know Forrest, we A* owners never get tired of posting pics of our true air speeds. ONE MORE TIME! 14,000' 209 TRUE 30.4 GPH. ROP I think that is about 60% power. If I could show the CHT's they would be around 330. Jgreen

Chuck,
Like my mother always said. Soon after you buy most things, you realize you had rather have the money.

And if I buy an SR71 Blackbird I can cruise at FL80 doing 2000knots.... As much as the TBM is Fabulous it is equally not in the realm of my dreams...yet If I buy an Aerostar and fly it often and hug it and squeeze it and pet it and call it George I will find myself smiling when I buy fuel for it, smiling when I pay most of the bills and smiling when lay my head down at night. If you are ever near Charlotte I will buy the kerosene and take a ride though
