Somehow the flying jet ski would not be so bad. The jet ski that just turns in front of you without looking when your running 120+ is a real nightmare though.
Jet skis and waverunners – worst things that ever happened to waterfront home ownership and to recreational boating. And I own two of the pesky, buzzing varmits. Rode them home from buying them and not since.
I really wish everyone who purchased one had the same story about not using them but once But the lake and river lice are ever popular and like bicyclist, very very ignorant.

Mike C. Have you ever flown a seaplane at night? This is going to be one awesome little toy. Those people who are crying because it doesn't have the useful load to take their family across country, or fly hard IFR at night are completely missing the point. The A5 is for playing around at your lake house. It's not an airplane for utility. I'm really looking forward to taking delivery of mine!

Yep.... this is effectively a "bush plane" for exploring. It would not be too horribly practical where I live (we need wheels) but if I were anywhere near Florida/Bahamas..... holy cow

One of these would be great to fly away to a destination lake where you can meet up with your ground-bound friends that are hauling the boats & gear. There are some nice lakes that are hours away by ground, but relatively easy trips via air...except most of them don't have very close in runways. Icon solves that problem in a big way! I too hope they succeed wildly. I wish they didn't put their production facility in Napa Valley, though. I've got to think that adds 15-20% to the cost of these things.

I don't honestly know where you got the 15-20% price increase??? I would be willing to bet that they got tax incentives to be wherever they are and Vacaville must have offered them something on par or better than others had offered. They as a business are most likely doing whats best for the bottom line over a zip code as Vacaville doesn't carry any status to anyone I know so obviously they chose Vacaville for it's "Nut Tree" airport and it's proximity to Lake Berryessa which the video was shot at. SO, it's location is geographically desirable. Oh and Vacaville is not Napa, nor Napa Valley! I think it's great that a company choose to make things in USA, and Northern CA for that matter even. I don't know why they left the Tehachapi possibly skilled labor was at a shortage or maybe the town wasn't business friendly? Who knows but Welcome to Northern California! Side step the liberals and keep working hard and it will all be good!!!

I'll buy one in the used market tho. I bet a lot of them get bought by people that find the reality of owning and flying one isn't all roses like in the video. There will be turnover. I like the idea, but I really wonder if I'd use it enough to justify the capital outlay. Upshot: rotax motors are pretty cheap to overhaul. If you buy one of these, you can fly the heck out of it and have the motor rebuilt for the cost of a used car.
