If the hypothesis proves true, eventually they can have enough members to turn a profit every month, yet their flights won't be overbooked. As I said, for every Gym that is open, there are 3 that have closed and bankrupted the franchisee. If you paid $75 and you can't get on a treadmill for 20min, you are going to be moderately peeved. If you paid $3800 and you can't get on a flight and miss a meeting, you are going to be 50.66 times as peeved.
I don't disagree... but that's kind of the way most business is. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. A lot of it is under your control (do you understand the issues and prepare for them well enough), sometimes it is not (I have a pal that started an FBO in late 2000; nine or ten months later... <sigh>).
Anyone wishing to start a business has some things to think about (like, can I feed my family?).
I wouldn't start that business, but mainly I don't know a darned thing about moving people around... or travel competition in that region... or operation of aircraft... or...

Here's the flight aware page for their PC-12 (N807SA). They aren't going above 17,000 feet which seems odd for a turboprop. It looks like they are filing IFR. They need it getting in and out of Burbank in the mornings. The flight is about 1:30 flying time. That's only about 15 minutes faster than my Bonanza! https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N807SAhttps://flightaware.com/live/flight/N806SAEdit: Found their second plane.

You are 100% right on that. It's a bold move and those don't squeak by, they fly or fall.

Maybe a decision not to invest in the company when he had the opportunity?
