Many corporate operators still require above FL250 even though regs state the above. I've had a mask not fit well at FL250 and one can lose perspective pretty quickly.

I always don the mask while above FL350. True story.

I bought a windows 7 laptop for $700 just to do the uploads. It stays in the plane and I cannot use it for anything else. Strange indeed.

I do the updates myself btw. Most guys at my airport pay the service center to do them $150. REALLY!!! . . . I know that my time is worth more than a buck and a half an hour . . . I can't begin to imagine what an hour of your time is worth!

I do the updates myself btw. Most guys at my airport pay the service center to do them $150. It may be a holdover from Honneywell's airline avionics. There this updating is handled by mechanics and since they are usually doing an inspection at the same time, it doesn't matter much that it takes a half hour to load the new data. I am sure owner/operator is their smallest market segment and that with which they still have the least experience.

But owner operators is really the fastest growing market and has been for years. It is what Cirrus mostly represents and the direction Cessna is going with all the small and mid size jets. Embrear has also moved in this direction....
