Friend of mine is putting a Txi and 2 750's in his Sll using the Jet tech STC.

You can really add a lot of capability to these birds with the avionics options that are available now.

Congrats James! Happy for you. Thanks for all the advice talking MU2's. Still haven't ruled it out for me. I'm sure the new owner will be pleased!

Impressive....

I have seen a 500 go in a few times at Mountain Air over the years but would't think of flying my CJ in there. I never even flew my 58P in there when I owned it.

We have a home there and a few weeks ago I met a guy in the pro shop that said he built the first home in Mountain Air. Flew a Piper Cherokee 6. He told me he has seen 20 crashes at MA over the years.

I have no problem with my T210 going in and out. A Pilatus regularly flys in and out.

We have a family home there also and I've been flying in there for almost 20 years. I'm looking forward to being up there a lot this summer in the MU-2 and look forward to meeting you. I've taken every airplane I've owned in there except the Eclipse and the P Baron. I think I could have done it in either but it would have been pretty sporty. Eclipse had bad brakes and the P Baron is well....a P Baron, heavy. CJ could do it but why mess with that. There have been a lot of crashes up there, worst I saw was a doctor from St. Pete with a new Columbia 350. Other fatal accidents were IMC or turbulence related. The key is putting it down before the 2000 feet remaining marker and you need to be touching down at 85kts or less. Also important to recognize when not to even attempt landing up there. I guess it doesn't matter what you're flying, if it can do that, it will stop before the end. Lancair is probably the most challenging machine I've taken in there.

Friend just did this with his V, $250K installed.

Yea, been flying in and out for the last 10 years or so. Definitely have to watch the winds. I bring my 210 in around 65 knots and you are right, get it down by the white 2000 ft marks. I left two weekends ago and it was gusting 23. As you can image, was bumpy in the valley. Certainly would not have landed with those gusts.

I remember that Columbia wreck. It was a bad one...

Will look out for the Mitts when you fly in and say hello.

I think the whole neighborhood will hear that Mits coming. I signed up for my training in it.

the range and speed. hard to beat SP. Love Proline but agree re Garmin. Wondered what the market was pricewise.

They just sent me a flyer on S550-0148, asking $1.495M.

That's probably a reasonable asking price for what it is.

Not in the air, not particularly noisy then.

When you land, then it gets noisy.

Compare flyby and landing noise to taxi noise:

Who did you select for your initial?

I think I chose Dick Allen if I can get him to pin down a date. Any thoughts on alternatives, Ross Russo and this guy James Drexler are possibilities too.

Michael,

Ross is a great guy. He has a MU2 sim at KAIK and does a lot of training here. Let me know if you need a place to stay and possibly a vehicle.. being an empty nester has its advantages...

Peace,
Don

Never trained with Dick, he's a character, let me know how it goes.

Ross is pretty good.

I've not trained with Drexler, he may be my next recurrent, heard good things.

Jerry Adcock at Howell is quite good. Would be my first choice for an initial.

Got my type rating today. Jet is still not quite ready. Air lining home and will pick it up in a week hopefully.
