I just happen to be one of those that assist with my annuals, but I also realize that time is money. I get it. There’s nothing wrong with “enjoying” that time. There’s nothing wrong with “enjoying” training. I enjoy it too. But it’s not “free” time.

Well, what do you know! Jason puts his PC-12 up for sale, and in 24-hours he has created a five page thread in which others are saying that the next step up costs more than double, has fewer amenities, and if time is money nothing can beat it. Jason, I believe Scott Adams would call you a Master Persuader. I salute you, sir!

I've been flying professionally for almost 20 years. I have quite a bit of time in the CJ3, both as a crew and SP. Also a lot of time in King Air's of all flavors, mostly SP. They are both very versatile. If you want a jet, I don't think you can make a better choice than the CJ3, considering performance versus economy versus safety. It's probably the sweet spot for efficiency. And we did lots of short hops with the CJ. But, if most of my missions were shorter trips, I would much rather fly a C90B (or PC-12) or a 350 because of all the reasons Jason has mentioned. Unless there is a good reason to go jet for longer legs, the Pilatus is a much better choice. And I would double-down on that opinion for an owner/operator vs a pro. pilot. I'm sure lots of o/o pilots are really sharp, but there is a whole higher level of performance with a CJ3/4 vs a PC-12 or King Air. Hence the extra time required for training and currency. Single pilot ops in a CJ3/4 can get to be a handful quickly in busy airspace. Simply by virtue of lower speed and lower altitudes, the turboprops provide a lot of breathing time that the jets can lack.

The new 5 blade, 67p, electric gear are fun. Just did 35 hours in one last month. My vote is a new Pilatus!

Jason review your logbook for the last year. How many airports did you land at that do not have sufficient runway for a jet?

Just curious. What is the annual training requirement for Pilates or TBM.

I don’t feel any different getting paid to fly. But yes agreed
