I was about to chime in and recommend that you avoid a Seneca, because... It is a Seneca. And what do I read this morning? A 56TC! Very cool, it is the Lockheed Jetstar of piston twins. Well done, anyone who knows a bit about piston twins will be very jealous.

nothing wrong with a seneca if you want to haul a piano or a coffin, and it's the cheapest way to get viable FIKI. But agreed that it wouldn't be my 1st choice for 2-up transportation

Alex,
At least Cuernavaca is a low corrosion area, and one of my favorite places. But a damned long way to drive a truck.
The value in this plane is for parts. If one restored this plane with good used Avionics repainted and salvaged the interior, one would have 125k in a 75,000 airplane.
I would pay 20,000 if the engines checked out.
Can you get an updated spec sheet and more photos.
The engines must be C4s to have value to me.

Well friends,

This thread served its purpose and I am the new owner of a sweet B56TC. I will post more info shortly.

Dude! Sweet!

When you get it running. I'll buy the gas if you let me push the noise maker levers forward.

Hi Rocky - I'll find out. A trucking company will charge approximately 2K for a closed box 40' semi from Cuernavaca to Laredo and will take about a day and a half to get the plane up there. There will be some paperwork involved, customs broker and the cost of the mechanic. I could help you find a mechanic to disassemble it and put it inside the truck.

If you really are interested, you could fly down to Queretaro on United or American and I could fly you down to MMCB (40 minutes) so you can supervise the operation. The engines were "overhauled" ( :hide: ) in Cuernavaca. I'll see if the owner can send me a spec sheet and see how much he is willing to come down on the price of his "executive transport".

how much of it do you want ? The engines and parts of the mag tail? When I bought a mooney to get its engine for a homebuilt, I removed the FWF and then took a chop saw to the rest of the plane right there on the ramp. There was no way i was hauling a whole plane across 3 states when i only wanted the parts that will fit in the back of my pickup.

So the airplane has been sitting not flown for about three years. Thursday I have a friend who lives somewhat close going up to do some pre check items for me. Checking turbos, pulling it out, inspect he flight controls. The only thing we currently know we need is a rudder cable from the rudder to the turnbuckle. The airplane is a 1967 BE56TC. Has about 4000TT and only had two owners. The interior is sun faded but complete along with an original complete panel :dancing: . The paint is in pretty good condition and will be saveable with elbow grease. We will most likely to a basic ferry flight with it to get it back home for winter. I see no reason why it won't be tearing through the skies with the Tbone this spring.

Chris - you did the right thing and made a very good choice. The 56TC is a darn good airplane and properly tuned, it can be a rocket ship. Fast, economical and a lot of fun to fly. Congratulations. I look forward to reading about this new adventure!

Definitely all man-points due for the 56TC, but a toyota corolla it isn't. :D

If you buy a wood wing, a chain saw works well.

<---------See over there :)

Matt,

You really helped me out and went out of your way when the Bonanza had that little wire issue that wasted your day! By all means you are first in line to do 230MPH fly by's slurping down that 50GPH all on the house.

Then you can start training me to do formation flying in our Baron's!

Thank you everyone of the nice comments. I am leaving Friday afternoon to ND to toy with the airplane over the weekend. There is no hotel in this town.......Soooo......you will find me camping in my truck for a day or two in a sleepy little airport. Oh well, sounds like another adventure.

The one thing I know right now is there is a part of the cable system for the rudder that is broken. The owner states they have have this repaired in the past twice and says it is very common. Sadly the owner doesn't know much about it other then he paid for it and the guys never replaced a cable and would make the repair right on the field. If anyone has ideas on this throw them out there. I am going to load all the tool chests and anything I think I may possible need to resurrect this bird. Hopefully to return on the second trip for the final rescue.

Chris
