$40k must be to overhaul a 5 blades ? Username Protected wrote: My last prop when I pulled back to 1900 I got a few extra knots. The one I have now does not seem to change efficiency one way or another above 1900 and loses below. I cannot account for why.
I have ordered a 5 blade, not because the one I have now is bad but because it is a loner. They wanted 40k to OH my last prop.

I just had an overhaul quote for a 5 blade on a TBM 900 at less than 1/2 of that price.

Buddy has mt 5 blade and it’s very quiet in cabin compared to 4 blade hartzell
Of course it’s got 300 hrs over 5 yrs and developed a vibration last week and the shop says it’s way out of balance and can’t be done in the field so he’s not thrilled.
Came on his new to him plane he didn’t pick it.

Thats crazy, any prop shop can overhaul it for under 10k. Im hearing 25-30k to overhaul a 5 blade, Im keeping my 4 blade as its easy to file if you nick it and your never stuck. Username Protected wrote: Nope 4 blade. Hartzell shop.

It worked out to 408kts GS! Yeah, just don’t know what to say, but you have to do it. I hit over 400 knots in a Meridian one day. There were clouds in the sky. I asked for left deviation, ATC didn’t query why. Was going faster than any of the jets going the other way. Attachment: BB7842C8-20CD-476A-9D03-9075CDA7612A.jpeg
