Is there a gear overhaul calendar or a prop overhaul calendar.
Which model MU-2 and Overhauls are now closed to 250k.
The exposure to big expenses is much higher in the TP.
Just guessing that, on a per hour the basis piston is cheaper on a per mile it might be close.

Are you really just trying to get Mike C engaged? 200 hours in, the MU2 is costing me 445 an hour to run. That is the sum of every dollar I have paid this far divided by hours flown. I am not counting engine reserves as I have very long time to go. This included 100 and 200 hour inspections along with a failed boost pump and a few other minor squawks. The plane is a mini airliner, you can't compare the build quality to piston anything.
Does that include fuel?

The prop for part 91 is on condition. 135 itis 5 yrs or something like 5-6K hrs. I believe the gear number in the above is wrong, it should be 3600hrs. At 1800 you do a hot, at 3600 you do a gear case and hot, at 5400 you do an OH. Jeff

yes. averaged 2.60 per gallon while on the road, 3.02 when you factor in fuel purchased at home (I get a horrible deal there). those fuel numbers include landing fees, etc too. I just divided total spend by gallons as both our tracked in our corporate logs. this was every single dime spent towards flying, including initial training, subscriptions, etc.

Dont forget that whatever money you save in the purchase of your airplane you can use for other toys. That was another *1 for the A* after I sold the MU-2 because the money left on the table bought me a 1967 GT500 and a 2005 Ford GT and those are a lot more fun than any airplane!

Forrest,
What's that Clint Eastwood line? From what movie? "A man has to know his limitations."
I may not, but my CFO wife damn sure does.

Anyone one for "removed user #3"? Really, more fun than any airplane? I would have bought a cub and some helicopter. That would be more fun ( for me).
Btw - beautiful cars you have there!

Reference turbos and waste gates.
Plane is currently in for Annual.
Usual little stuff.
Bigger stuff....
My left Waste Gates have been sticking which can produce some impressive MAP numbers on descent if I don't catch it. Mouse milk made it work on the ground cool, but hot it would stick regularly. "Send 'em off"
AAC disassembled and cleaned and sent back, about a week turn around time including 2nd day air freight.
One turbo off the left engine had some play, when removed it made a rattling noice when shaken, it went to ATC for a quick turn around. I'd noticed that side was a bit weaker at high altitudes, but otherwise, it seemed fine. I believe it had about 800 hours time in service.
Getting a new set of main tires (the old ones weren't terrible but it was time).
Plane was dropped off last Monday.
Parts are due in Today.
Assuming no surprises, I'll pick up on Wednesday.
I'll post prices on the turbo and the WGs when I get the bill.
Saturday, I'll head out to San Diego.
I was considering a stop at Fredericksburg Tx (T82) for the night.
